Article 1. Planning Commission

There is hereby created a city planning commission for the City of Enterprise, Kansas, which shall consist of seven members of which five members shall be residents of the city and two members shall reside outside the city but within three miles of the corporate limits of the city.

The members of the city planning commission shall be appointed by the mayor by and with the consent of the council. The members of the planning commission first appointed shall serve respectively for terms of one year, two years and three years, divided equally or so nearly equal as possible between those terms. Thereafter, members shall be appointed for terms of three years each. Vacancies shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term only. Members of the planning commission shall serve without compensation.

The members of the planning commission shall meet annually or as needed. They shall select one member as chairperson and one as vice chairperson who shall serve one year or until their successor has been selected. The city clerk shall serve as secretary. Special meetings may be called at any time by the chairperson or in his or her absence by the vice chairperson. A majority of the planning commission shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. The planning commission shall cause a proper record to be kept of its proceedings.

The planning commission and city governing body shall have all the powers and duties set forth in K.S.A. 12-701 et seq. and amendments thereto and such other powers and duties as are now or may hereafter be prescribed by law.
